Lucy came to church this morning in this beautiful shawl. I told her how lovely she looked and she took the shawl off, wrapped it around my neck and said it is a gift for you. I tried to give it back and was quickly told by others that I was required to accept it. I was completely overwhelmed with emotion. The generousity of the people here is amazing. I  will forever cherish this gift and what it meant to her to give it to me.

After church Oscar took us for a walk to the large market in the center of the city, where it we observed people shopping, eating, and enjoying the Sunday. We then went to enjoy lunch at a small out of the way Mom and Pop restaurant that he was familiar with. The next photo is of our lunch.

Shrimp, manta, and aleta soup. Yes, manta ray. Aleta is the fin of the fish.
"Where the Lord leads, I will follow.
What the Lord feeds, I will swallow."
It was an interesting soup and quite filling.

We have tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, cilantro, and sunflowers planted in our yard. We are going to enjoy these cherry tomatoes very soon.

  3. Deb, I know how hard it was for you to accept that shawl. You are a wonderful giver, not always easy to accept. You deserve it and it looks great on you! I am sure it gave her a lot of happiness to give it to you. Miss you,
