Centro De Suenos- Dream Center

It is Saturday again and this morning was the Dream Center ministry. We look forward to this ministry each week. Those that come are hungry...for the Word and for nutrition. I realize how truly blessed I'm. I have more than enough and I have never really been hungry for nutrition. Thank you Lord!

Molliann arrived safely and the huge smile that was on her face when she stepped off the plane is still there!
She is in the center with the lime green t-shirt. This is part of the greeters who came to the airport.

This small family came this morning.

The bag probably contains most of his belongings.

The line for food was quite long today.

This bowl contains frijoles, rice, eggs, and a pasta. Along with this, tortillas and a roll are breakfast.

Socorro handed out clothing to some in need.

The frijoles were completely eaten up. A loaves and fishes day.

Marlene gives haircuts and shaves to those who need. This man was extremely shakey, detoxing. She does such a wonderful ministry as those who get haircuts sometimes have not had a bath or shampoo in quite sometime.

Fernando assisting this man in finding the scripture being read.

The women serving breakfast.
New Testament Bibles are given to those who wish. These Bibles came from a mission team from Canada.

We went out to the village yesterday to see our friends there and to check on the progress on the church. The metal (reja) security for the windows is being welding and will be installed soon.

Tuesday we went to see Gerardo, our neighbor, play baseball. He is the neatest 10 year old, and is working hard on his English...teaching us some Spanish, as well.

When we went to the village, we went to Ramon's. He was not home, but his hat was. We had some tools that we borrowed to return.

Ivana came over this morning to show us her marching uniform before she went to school. She is Gerardo's 5 year old sister. If we understood correctly, it is" Day of the Flag" today.

Tomatoes in our garden.

Peppers in our garden.

Papaya...it is becoming a favorite!

We bought shrimp from a man along the road to take to our friends in the village.

A village home.

Jeff and Adella working hard at communication, using our translator. Adella pulled some radished from their garden for us. What a treat.

Today we are going to the airport to pick up our friend, Molliann from Dakota City, NE. She has come down here with Jeff several times over the years. Everyone here is excited about her return and have planned for a large number of people to be at the airport to greet her!

My apologies if my posts seem out of order, they are! I struggle with this everytime I post and adding pictures is done a different way each time. Need a computer class.

Pyramid

View from the top of the pyramid at some of the outlying compound. Part of this was a spa!

Part of the group we toured with.

The pyramid from a distance.
While we were in San Miguel de Allende we learned that a recently discovered pyramid would be opening for tours to the public on Tuesday February 15th. We were numbers 35 and 36. What a blessing! It was 3 kilometers up hill at an elevation of 6000 feet. Us flat landers were sucking wind by the time we reached the pyramid. Well worth it.
The excavation and archaeological studies were started on April 8, 2002. The settlers here were Otomi Indians.

My new friend. He didn't have a lot to say.

We were serenaded by these fellas!

This one in a suburb called Tonala. The  streets were filled with local art.

One of the people we saw hoping to make a few coins.

We took a horse drawn carriage ride through the city.

We invited Patricia to sit with us when we noticed her sitting in this courtyard struggling with an English homework assignment.

A three story market in Guadalajara with lots of activity.

We are off! We flew out of the Hermosillo airport on February 9th to the Guadalajara airport.

Guadalajara

We returned to Guaymas early this afternoon after 12 exciting days of site seeing, eating, shopping, laughing, and prayer. The photos posted here are just of the first 3 or 4 days in Guadalajara and surrounding areas in the state of Jalisco. This historic area has incredible architecture from hundreds of years ago. I believe that I was told that Guadalajara is the second largest city in Mexico, Mexico City being the largest. We met lots of people and our great tour guides, Tito and Judy, made it possible for us to communicate our needs. We were serenaded several times by mariachi musicians. One was a very talented all women group with trumpets, violins, and guitars.  From there we went on to the state of Guanajuato to several other cities, one being the city of Guanajuato. We will post photos of that part of the journey later.

I brought this feeder from home. It hangs right outside our kitchen window and this little guy visits regularly.
We have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Leon, and a couple other cities with Tito and Judy. Tito's father was from Guanajuato and Tito has not had the opportunity to visit where his roots are from until now. The area there has much of the history of Mexico and of course, lots of art! We are taking nothing more than a backpack with a few clothes and a camera, so there will no posts until we return on Feb. 20th. We are leaving at 5:30 in the morning to fly out of Hermosillo. We feel this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Fatima

Monday morning we went to an area called Fatima. It is a very poor part of Guaymas and was the hardest hit area when Hurricane Jimena hit here a couple of years ago.  The rains stalled over Guaymas for 36 hours. Fatima sits in a valley surrounded by the mountians, so all of the water coming off the mountains raced through this small town, destroying homes and property.
There is a team of doctors here in Guaymas/ San Carlos from Montana. They set up a free clinic in Fatima for the day on Monday.

These people are waiting to see a doctor at the clinic.

Prayer was offered to those who desired. Bibles were given out to those who accepted one as well.

A sample of what you see for homes in Fatima.

Waiting for the doctor to check out her beautiful baby.

Preliminary checks were done before seeing the doctor.

An area was set up for people to find a pair of reading glasses if they needed some.

This couple had a powerful faith story. He had been in a hospital after having had a colostomy along with 5 others who had the same surgery. He was the only one who survived. He had no doubt that it was the Lord who kept him alive!

Another home.

These same doctors were here a couple of years ago when we were and set up a free clinic in the Los Cerritos village.
